Another look at Utah Lake Bridge…

It’s no secret there are those that oppose the idea of a bridge across Utah Lake.  If you look at the current population on the West Side of Utah Lake it isn’t justified but according to MAG’s West Lake Vision Utah County is going to grow from a population of 519,632 in 2008 to a projected population of 1,261,653 by 2050 (Utah Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget) With that kind of growth coming down the pike the West Side of Utah Lake is going to have several very large communities.

Group seeks state bond for Utah lake bridge worst-case scenario…

A local group is asking that the state require a clean-up bond in case the proposed Utah Lake bridge fails.

Environmentalists looking for alternatives to Utah lake Bridge proposal

About 25 people from various environmental groups got together to discuss possible alternatives to a bridge across Utah Lake that is being proposed.

Reed Price , director of the Utah Lake Commission said the Utah lake Commission has not yet come to a recommendation but did say “Salt lake County has 70 ways to get east and west, currently we have two.”

A decision on the Utah Lake Bridge by end of the year?

The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State lands would like to have a decision by December of 2010 on the Utah Crossings proposed Utah Lake Bridge.  They may ask for additional competing leases from others with similar plans before making a decision.

Bridging lake is urgent…

Whether you are for or against the idea of a bridge across Utah Lake there is certainly no doubt of the growth taking place on the West Side of Utah Lake.  Communities like Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain are planning for extensive growth over the next 30 years.  Saratoga Springs is putting millions of dollars into planning for the future by securing additional water rights.  Is it too early to start looking at the possibilities of a bridge across Utah lake?  Check out the Transportation Map on the website to see what West Lake Vision has in mind for the West Sides future.
